Basketball

Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, typically consisting of five players each, compete to score points by shooting a ball through the opposing team’s hoop, which is elevated 10 feet from the floor. The game is played on a rectangular court with a hoop at each end. Players advance the ball by dribbling (bouncing the ball while walking or running) or passing it to teammates. Points are scored by making field goals, which can be worth two or three points depending on the distance from the hoop, or free throws, which are worth one point awarded after certain fouls. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins. Basketball is a fast-paced game that emphasizes skills such as shooting, dribbling, passing, and teamwork. It is played at various levels globally, including recreational leagues, high school, collegiate, and professional competitions, with the National Basketball Association (NBA) being the most prominent professional league.
