Football

Football, known as soccer in some countries, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each, using a spherical ball. The primary objective of the game is to score goals by getting the ball into the opposing team’s net. The game is played on a rectangular field, commonly referred to as a pitch, with a goal at each end.

Players primarily use their feet to control and pass the ball, though they can also use their bodies, except for the arms and hands, which are restricted to the goalkeeper. Matches are typically played over two halves, each lasting 45 minutes, with a referee overseeing the game to enforce the rules and ensure fair play.

Football is one of the most popular sports globally, with an extensive following and numerous professional leagues. It serves as a cultural phenomenon in many regions, uniting fans and communities. The sport is governed internationally by the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), which organizes major tournaments such as the FIFA World Cup. Football promotes teamwork, physical fitness, and strategic thinking, and it has a rich history and tradition in many societies.
