Purdue Boilermakers

The Purdue Boilermakers are the athletic teams representing Purdue University, located in West Lafayette, Indiana. The term “Boilermakers” originally referred to the skilled workers who constructed boilers and is a nod to the university’s engineering and technical programs. The teams compete in NCAA Division I athletics as a member of the Big Ten Conference. The Boilermakers field teams in various sports, including football, basketball, baseball, and volleyball, among others. The school’s colors are black and gold, and the mascot is known as “Boilermaker Special,” which is a train-themed representation reflecting the university’s history and its ties to the industrial roots of the region.
