Сумо

Сумо, or sumo, is a traditional Japanese form of wrestling that has its roots in ancient Shinto rituals. It involves two competitors, known as rikishi, who aim to force each other out of a circular ring or to make any part of their opponent’s body (other than the soles of their feet) touch the ground. The sport is characterised by its elaborate ceremonies and rituals, including the use of salt to purify the ring, and is governed by strict rules and rankings. Sumo wrestlers often train rigorously in stables and follow a specific lifestyle that includes a special diet. The sport holds significant cultural importance in Japan and features bouts that can be both physically demanding and strategically complex.
